Poor Metal Cleaning and Preparation Leads to Rust Down the Road

A lot of folks think that if an iron fence is black and powder coated that there is no real difference between manufacturers.  That could not be further from the truth!  They all look nice and shiny when new, but how is your fence going to look say 5-10 years down the line?

To get powder to stick and stay on metal, you need to follow multiple steps to ensure your metal is fully prepped and clean for powder adhesion.  We put our Stronghold Iron fence through a 4-stage wash and preparation process before they are run through our powder coating oven.   And on top of that, all our stock is pre-galvanized.  This is better than a

spray on primer that does not fully cover your metal.  With the stock being pre-galvanized, that protection is underneath, inside, outside, everywhere on the piece.  The style and quality of powder varies immensely too.  We use a quality TGIC powder coat that has UV fade inhibitors in it.  That keeps your fence from graying out or getting ‘chalky’.

All of this is why we can offer the longest warranty in the industry:

25 years!

So, you think that this is all just selling material and not all that important?  Take a look at the photos below of a local job we are tearing out and replacing.  That is one of our competitor’s fences in the photos that only 5 years into its 10 year warranty!  And to make matters worse, the company would not honor the warranty.  So they contacted us to tear out the old fence and replace it with our Stronghold Iron.  As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!  That is the result of a company not taking their finishing process seriously as we do with our Stronghold Iron.
